about the author
the perfumer
a chemist who writes poems.
i trained in chemistry to understand how matter holds on to memory.
i write poems for the things that will not fit in any other kind of sentence.
for years the two lived apart. kryvoc began the day i admitted that some poems are too heavy for paper and need a second language.
i write the poem first and leave it in a drawer until it stops changing. then i write the brief, about what the poem feels like under its images.
every trial is worn on other skins and read against the poem. a beautiful trial that says the wrong thing goes in the bin.
my face stays off this page. the poems are the portrait.
